FALL FASHION SETTLES IN ON CAMPUS

The weather is just beginning to cool off and the Bridgewater State University campus is showing signs of fall clothing trends.

Sweaters and jackets are always prominent fall trends, but students aren’t letting go of summer clothes just yet, with crop tops and skirts still as popular as ever. Transitioning from summer to fall is creating exciting outfits that are casual and wearable.

The popular skirts seen around campus have longer hemlines than typical warm weather skirts. The maxi skirt (floor grazing) is appearing in both solid colors and all sorts of prints, especially stripes.

The high-low hemline is also making an appearance. This skirt has a higher hemline in the front, and longer in the back. These skirts have a romantic feel that can be dressed up or down with a denim jacket or cardigan.

Crop tops are often paired with maxi skirts or shorts. These are a fun way to keep a little summer in your fall wardrobe. They can be paired to show your midriff or with high waisted shorts to elongate your legs.

“Striking a balance between casual and glamorous, it’s no wonder the maxi skirt continues to be a major trend after making a splash seasons ago,” said Marianne Dabir of Teenvogue.com.

Another trend seen around the Bridgewater State campus is Alex and Ani bracelets. These charm bracelets have a minimalist feel that can be worn alone, or stacked with other bracelets. Most students have a collection of the bracelets that they never take off.

“I like [the gold ones] because everyone has silver and I wanted something different,” said senior communication disorders major Miranda Flanagan. “They all mean something different.”

Another classic trend for fall is the jacket.

“Jackets are an easy fall essential for a casual or date look,” said junior biology major Heather Learnard.

To keep this look fresh, wear a jacket in an army green and play around with layers. For a cute transitional outfit, wear a jacket with a printed dress and boots.

Now is the perfect time to experiment with clothes. Layering and putting together unexpected pieces will make your outfits more interesting and unique for fall.
