Backpacks have made a comeback since high school, and now you can’t get around campus without one. Steering away from the black Northface backpack, patterned and brightly colored backpacks are making a name for themselves.
Victoria’s Secret has sequenced to tribal backpacks that will hold everything you would ever need. Jansport has also come out with over 60 patterned backpacks, and if you’re into animal prints or really patriotic, there’s a bag for you. Now, you have no excuse to say backpacks are ugly.
Black History Month
February is Black History Month and Bridgewater State University has had some events on campus to celebrate. On Wednesday, Bridgewater State President Dana Mohler-Faria and Governor Deval Patrick held a panel discussion titled “The Future of Black History.”
Bridgewater State is also hosting Martin Luther King III (MLK Jr.’s son) through the SGA Lecture Series on March 5 in the RCC Auditorium. Martin Luther King III has worked with individuals committed to the fight for human rights and a nonviolent society.
Love music? Thursdays at Bogarts is the place to be from 7-10 p.m. There are live bands playing acoustic music and plus appetizers are half off. Doors open at 7 p.m., but the show is 18-plus. Food and music, what can be a better combo?
Summer is coming up and for upperclassmen, internships are starting to come up in discussions. For some majors, internships are required and can be for credit or no credit. Also, they can either be paid or unpaid. Students should visit Career Services or discuss internship possibilities with the internship coordinator within their major. Either way, internships can get your foot in the door for a career you potentially want.
Smack College is a twitter account that posts jokes, news, sports and entertainment about colleges, including BSU. What better thing to do then to recap the weekend with pictures and hilarious comments. If you see something on a Thursday night you need to share with everyone else, tag @SMACKCOLLEGE so we can all laugh together.
