Bogarts, the popular bar right off campus, hosts “Acoustic Thursdays” each week from 7 to 11 p.m. Students from Bridgewater State University have the opportunity to perform acoustic covers and original works.

Sara Comeau, a junior majoring in English, helps Curtis Markley, also a junior, direct the weekly event in addition to performing.

“It started out with just Curtis and I performing, and slowly we began adding to our list of performers,” she said.

This event, open to those over 18, is increasing in popularity based on the crowd that develops as the night goes on. Student performers have contacted Comeau and Markley to have the opportunity to perform not only covers of popular songs such as “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele, but their own original work.

“All the performers that you see on Thursdays are just happy accidents,” Comeau said. “We’ve been so lucky to stumble across the wealth of talent this community has to offer.”
