Bears of the Week

Marty Voorhis- Senior, Defensive End, Varsity Football

Voorhis has been doing an excellent job both on the field and in the classroom all season long, and all his hard work is beginning to pay off. He has been selected to participate on the 2014 Capital One Division III Football Academic All-District One Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Voorhis has been a staple of the Bear’s defense this season, making 47 tackles (37 solo), including 14 ½ going for a loss and also 3 ½ sacks. He also has two forced fumbles on the season. He has contributed as a leader for the Bears this season in games as well as in the locker room. Voorhis played well again this weekend in the Bear’s game against Framingham State.

Christina Jaros- Freshman, Middle Hitter, Varsity Volleyball

Christina Jaros once again finds herself in the Bears of the Week column as she continued to play strong toward the end of the volleyball season. Jaros played a huge role in helping to lead the Bears to a semifinal matchup over the weekend at the MASCAC tournament. She has also been named the MASCAC volleyball Rookie of the Week for the third straight week in a row, a very impressive feat. Jaros averaged 10.5 kills and 3 blocks during the MASCAC tournament. She was a forced to be reckoned with all season long and has a bright future ahead of her for the next three years as the catalyst for the Bears volleyball team, after leading an impressive playoff run.
