Award shows are a time to celebrate accomplishments, and for celebrities attending, a time to show off incredible fashion. One-of-a-kind pieces, runway samples, and vintage treasures all find their time to shine on the Red Carpet.

The Grammys on this past Sunday, Feb. 8, has a unique red carpet, where formal attire is welcome, but attendees have a little more fun with their sartorial choices.

Take Katy Perry, a personal favorite of mine. Her lilac hair was bold in just the right way, with a silver beaded calf-skimming Zuhair Murad dress. She knew how to let her personality shine through without going over-the-top.

Anna Kendrick stepped out of the box in a Band of Outsiders black low-cut suit. Wearing pants to the Grammys was a winning decision for Kendrick. They looked natural yet still glamorous.

Chrissy Teigen wore a beautifully tailored white Emilio Pucci dress, while accompanying nominated husband John Legend in a Dolce and Gabbana suit.

The three Haim sisters of the new band Haim (nominated for Best New Artist) wore unique pieces by Chloe and Stella McCartney. The sisters are already noted for their fashion sense, so it’s only natural that they would win on the Red Carpet.

Madonna’s custom Givenchy Haute Couture outfit was definitely wild and definitely out there, but what other time to show that you can still perform and make a statement?

Award shows are a great place to get outfit inspiration for big events coming up in your own life, such as a formal wedding, or a school formal.

The dresses and suits are all impeccably tailored, an absolute must when dressing up. Fit can change an entire look for the better, or worse.

These looks should also inspire you to take risks. Taylor Swift’s Elie Saab dress fit perfectly, and was unexpected and fun, with a shorter hemline in the front, and the gown draping around it. She also paired the teal dress with fuchsia heels, and it looked elegant, not tacky.

Lady Gaga’s Brandon Maxwell dress nods to the 70’s trend of this season. The silhouette and long pendant necklace gets me excited about dressing up for this fun trend.

The Academy Awards are coming up next month, so look at the Spring/Summer 2015 fashion shows to make your predictions about who will be wearing what, and take notes to inspire your own wardrobe.
