Why we should all think about that Plan B path, while enjoying our Plan A path too

Life doesn’t always turn out how you planned. Sometimes, the spontaneity of life can be a wonderful thing– you don’t expect to meet the love of your life, but it happens, and you fall in love. Other times, it can be very bad– death is often something that is unexpected, and this can of course bring sadness and grief.

Your path in life is not always one that is straight. You have a Plan A, this one plan that can get you to your dreams and where you want to be. Plan B’s, they should be there too, but the most important thing is to be prepared for both.

Sometimes it is best not to plan out everything in your life, as this often fails to follow through. By going with the flow, and enjoying every moment of the path that you are currently on, you can enjoy your life more, and of course, you can be okay with change at the same time.

I know that change can be a really scary thing at times, but take a moment to think about all of the changes that have happened in your life. They made your life different, didn’t they? For better or worse, the randomness of life has helped you grow.

Whenever I think about how I want my life to go, or the changes I will have to go through in the future, and how change scares me more than anything, I think of this lovely quote I read on Tumblr: “What if I told you 10 years from now that your life would be exactly the same? Would you be happy? I doubt it. So why are you so afraid of change?”.

The truth is, sometimes it is better to have that Plan B in the back of our minds, and then keep it there, and enjoy the moments that you have on that Plan A path. That path will change, no matter how scary that is, and then you will grow in the process.

Dreams change along with our paths. Maybe that wonderful career choice that you made when you were fresh out of high school at age 18 is not such a wonderful choice to you at age 23. That is perfectly okay.

I tell you why that is okay: that other choice is not going to make you happy, and happiness is what is important in the long run. So go ahead, chose that Plan B path. Start over again, make your life a blank slate.

Events happen in our lives that change our paths too. As I mentioned, these can be happy or sad moments, big and small. Regardless, these are things that veer us on that other path. In the back of your mind, be prepared for this, but this should not make you anxious or fearful. Change is wonderful and should be embraced.

Embrace your life, and that Plan B future, whatever it entails. Your life is for making the most out of, so do that. Choose that path that makes you the happiest, because in the end, your happiness is all that matters.
